By Any Other Name…Still the Same?

Shipping is shipping…right? You can get discounted shipping labels from other sources. So long as it goes through FedEx, does it really matter where you get them?

It does matter. A lot. Here’s why ShipYourReptiles and ShipYourAquatics are the absolute best choice to ship your live reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and aquatic creatures. 

  • Legitimacy 

ShipYourAquatics is the ONLY FedEx approved third-party shipper for aquatic animals. Anyone else claiming differently is being dishonest. Only SYA has the authority and support of FedEx to give your valuable packages the kind of hands-on service they deserve. 

While it is true that FedEx has certified a few other third-party shippers for reptiles, ShipYourReptiles was the first. Chad Brown and Robyn Markland blazed the trail to make deeply discounted shipping available to every level of enthusiast, from large businesses to the smallest of hobbyists. We have a powerful foundation of history and a rock-solid relationship with FedEx that no one else can touch.

  • Insurance

As you may or may not know, FedEx waives all delivery guarantees and all liability on any shipment containing live animals. They will not reimburse for a late delivery, no matter why it was late. They will not cover any damages (deaths) regardless of how much fault they might bear in the situation. This waiver is a part of the contract on all certifications to ship live animals. The shipper accepts these risks, or they can’t ship through FedEx. 

We’ve stepped in to bridge that gaping hole in FedEx’s service. ALL our Priority Overnight shipments can be insured for On-Time Delivery for a mere $2.50 per label. 

Also, ShipYourReptiles offers Live Arrival Insurance up to $10,000 (or even more with special arrangement) worth of coverage on all reptile shipments. (Live Arrival for aquatics and invertebrates is in the works!)

The money you can save by having the shipping costs of occasional late packages reimbursed will save you a lot of money, over time...not to mention the sometimes business-saving insurance available for Live Arrival of valuable reptile stock. 

Our Insurance program is tested and true. We paid out over $100,000 in insurance claims in 2018. The majority of that total is shipping refunds for late-arrivals, but DOA payments are included as well. SYR Live Arrival Insurance isn't "anything goes" coverage, but as long as you do your part with packaging and meeting our SYR Shipping Standards(including specific guidelines for temperatures and heat pack use), if your package is late and your reptiles are DOA, you are covered to the insured amount.

  • Reliability

We watch our competitors and are aware of their rates. What we’ve seen is that often (always, with one particular competitor), their rate calculations are faulty. From time to time, they try to fix their calculation issues, and this causes their prices to fluctuate and be inconsistent from month to month and sometimes even week to week.

Some price fluctuations may be deliberate bait-and-switch attempts to poach customers from us. Regardless of the reason, those deep discounts never last for long. Their prices go up again, sometimes with discounts as little as 20% off the FedEx retail rate.

  • Community

We support USARK (United States Association of Reptile Keepers) with personal donations and fund-raising donations, sending them tens of thousands of dollars each year. It is our sincere belief that our reptile-loving community will only survive if we support those actively working to protect that community, even if doing so may cost a few extra dollars sometimes.

  • Value

We’ve all seen and experienced those less-than-ethical breeders/dealers that try to win your customers away with cut-rate prices. They cut corners, offer shoddy, unhealthy stock, and offer little-to-no customer service. You, as a legitimate and honest business, can not and should not try to match rates with those sorts of “competitors.” We feel the same way when it comes to trying to compete with illegitimate shipping sources. 

We believe that the value we offer far outweighs a few dollars difference in shipping price...especially when those differences are so inconsistent and fluctuating. We are reliable, predictable, and dependable.
